As core equipment in the plastics processing industry, the performance of plastic extruders directly impacts product quality and production efficiency. To ensure stable equipment operation, a standardized inspection process is crucial. This article systematically explains the inspection process for plastic extruders, covering key aspects including installation and commissioning, operational status, and long-term maintenance.
1. Basic Pre-Installation Inspection
Before equipment installation, perform a visual and dimensional inspection of all extruder components. Focus on checking the wear of the screw and barrel, confirming the assembly accuracy of the heating system and transmission, and verifying the insulation and grounding reliability of the electrical circuits. Furthermore, verify the motor power, reduction ratio, and torque compatibility based on technical parameters to ensure that the hardware meets production requirements.
2. No-Load Run Inspection
After equipment installation is complete, perform a no-load test run. Before starting the main motor, check that the lubrication system oil pressure meets the standard and that the cooling water lines are unobstructed. During the no-load phase, gradually increase the screw speed to observe whether it operates smoothly and whether there is any abnormal vibration or noise. Monitor bearing temperature to ensure that the temperature rise does not exceed the equipment's allowable range (typically ≤40°C). During this phase, the control system's response speed must be tested and the effectiveness of the automatic alarm and emergency shutdown functions must be verified.
3. Load Operation and Parameter Calibration
After passing the no-load test, the load test phase begins. By injecting standard plastic raw materials, the extrusion temperature, pressure, and speed parameters are gradually adjusted to observe the melt flow and product quality. Key inspections include die head pressure stability, product dimensional tolerances, and cosmetic defect rates. Energy consumption data is also recorded, and the correlation between motor load factor and production efficiency is analyzed. Temperature sensors and pressure transmitters are recalibrated as necessary.
4. Long-Term Operation and Maintenance Inspection
During routine production, key components should be regularly inspected for wear, such as the screw-barrel clearance (recommended every 500 hours), heater coil insulation, and drive belt tension. A comprehensive performance evaluation is conducted quarterly, including mechanical vibration analysis, electrical system withstand voltage testing, and verification of safety device effectiveness.
A standardized inspection process not only extends equipment life but also effectively prevents production accidents. Operators should strictly follow standardized inspection procedures and incorporate intelligent monitoring technology to ensure efficient and stable operation of the plastic extruder.
